Volunteer - use your Abilities and Talents to serve God at ORLC

God has made each of us a Steward

"We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.  If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.  If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully."

Romans 12: 6-89

We all need to get involved - our Pastor and new DCE will lead us, but they cannot do it alone.  As joyful partners in the Gospel and in the mission of the church, let us each, using the time, talents, and treasures God has blessed us with, join together in supporting the Lord's work here at ORLC.  Attend congregational meetings, hold an office, serve on a board, accept committee appointments, and participate in the activities of your congregation wherever possible.

Is God calling you to serve in one of our ministries at ORLC?  After reviewing the many volunteer opportunities, please contact us so we can provide more information.  We will connect you to those who are in leadership of the area of your interest.  You can also share what you feel comfortable doing even if it is not on the list.

Please contact the church office by phone at (706) 733-6076 or send an email to orlcpasa@knology.net.  Please include your name, phone number and how you would like to volunteer.  We will be in touch promptly.

A Christian steward serves God out of love and gratitude for the gifts He has given us, knowing that it's not how much we have but what we do with what we have that is important.

MID-YEAR FOOD COLLECTION FOR DCCM - (DOWNTOWN COOPERATIVE OF CHURCH MINISTRIES)

This non-profit group is made up of 12-14 churches who provide volunteers to distribute food to people with low income. People 55 and over can pick up food once a week and others every two weeks. The amount of food given at one time is determined by the number of people in the family. Food is purchased from the Golden Harvest Food Bank, received from the federal government and state government or private donations. Local stores will donate frozen foods and breads. The food is placed into used plastic bags from the store or into cardboard boxes. The client numbers have increased lately and canned food is greatly needed. ORLC provides 5 volunteers for different Fridays of each month. Volunteers are needed for each Wednesday of the month. We take the plastic bags that have been donated and use them to pack food in. For more information pick up the brochure on the LWML shelf in the crosswalk.
