QUILTERS Quilters
meet every Tuesday from 9 a.m. until noon in Room 309. The group works together to create tied quilts which are distributed
through Lutheran World Relief (over 100 last year!!!), The Red Cross, Safe Homes of Augusta, and to needy families supported
by ORLC at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hand stitched quilts are also made and auctioned off as fund raisers throughout
the year. Anyone is welcome to come and join the group on Tuesday mornings. God's House is a house of prayer and
our Prayer Shawl and Lap Quilt Ministry exemplifies and personalizes God's presence and promise in prayer. Prayer
shawls and lap quilts are given to anyone, member or non-member, in need of prayer and encouragement wherever they are whether
in nursing homes, hospitals or confined at home. Those receiving the prayer shawls and quilts receive comfort and encouragement
from the physical warmth as well as the promise attached. It has been said that the prayer shawl and lap quilts give
tangible evidence of God's involvement in our life. If you have a need for a prayer shawl contact our church office

September, 2011 Update: QUILTS DEDICATED: On
Sunday, September 4th, over 300 quilts were dedicated and will be shipped to various charities and/or organizations.
All of these quilts were the work and joy of the over 25 members of the ORLC Quilters. On Tuesday mornings each week
these ladies spend from 9am till noon crafting these beautiful quilts to help others all around the world. These
quilts will be sent to: Safe Homes of Augusta
Cumbee Center of Aiken, SC Threshold to Freedom
Lutheran World Relief Interfaith Hospitality
In addition, quilts were sent earlier this year to: Lutheran Services of Georgia
Haiti Earthquake A family in Louisville, GA after a fire destroyed their home Thanks be
to God for His blessing on this ministry.
August, 2010 Update
QUILTS DEDICATED: On Sunday, August 29 th, over 160 quilts were dedicated along with 24 baby quilts and the LWML banner quilt.
All these were the work and joy of the ORLC Quilters. Each week they spend from 9 till noon crafting
these beautiful quilts to help others around the world. Many of the quilts will be given to Lutheran World Relief
for use. Others will be utilized at local area safe homes and centers throughout the CSRA.
The baby quilts will be given to newly baptized children. Thanks be to God for His blessings on
this ministry. PRAYER SHAWLS AND LAP ROBES: Thus far, we have given out 315 of these wonderful examples of
God’s love. People who receive them are overjoyed to have them as they utilize them to keep warm
and be reminded of the warmth of Jesus’ love. If you know someone who would benefit from one of these,
please contact the Church office with their address and we’ll get it out to them.
